Abstract

The objective of this final project is to find out whether there is any correlation between Students’ Activeness in Learning English Participation and Their English Achievement. The subject of the study was tenth grade students of SMK Ky Ageng Giri in the academic year 2017/2018. The population of this research was all of the tenth grade of SMK KyAgeng Giri. The design of this study was correlational research. By using purposive sampling the researcher took two classes from five classes with the total sample was 48 respondents. The data were collected using observation and questionnaire sheet. The observation sheet contained the list of statement consist of 7 items. The questionnaire sheet contained the list of question consist of 10 items and each of them has four options. To know the students’ English achievememnt, the researcher used the students’ English scores from report card. The result of the analysis showed that there was a significant correlation betweenstudents’ activeness in learning English participation and their English achievement. The calculated shows the coefficient correlation0.494 and 0.418. It was concluded that the hyphotesis of this study was accepted because the significance value was lower than the level of significance (0.05).
