Abstract

Background: Basic health in Indonesia found that 57,6% of the population has
dental problems, in addition there is a proportion of teeth, cavities, or caries, of
45,5% throughout Indonesia and 43,4% in Central Java. The purpose of this study
was to determine the effect of providing animated videos about dental care, on
knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of dental care in school-age children at SDN
Karangwono 02.
Method: This research is a quantitative research type with a pre-experimental
approach. This research design uses one group pre-test post-test design. Data
collection was carried out using a questionnaire. The number of respondents was
58 people with a total sampling technique. The data obtained were processed
statistically using the Wilcoxon test.
Results: The results of the study conducted on 58 respondents indicate that of the
participants were male, with males constituting 51.7% of the sample. was children aged
nine to ten years, accounting for 34.5% of the respondents, with most of them in the fourth
grade (34.5%). Before the intervention, the respondents had a sufficient level of knowledge
(53.4%), but after the animated video screening, their knowledge significantly improved to
a good category. The respondents' attitudes, which were initially mostly negative, also
shifted to a more positive stance after the intervention. Additionally, the behavior of
respondents, which was previously categorized as sufficient (43.1%), showed a significant
increase to a positive category (74.1%). The Wilcoxon pre and post-test results indicated a
p-value of 0.00 < 0.05.
Conclusion: There is an influence between the pre-test and post-test results on the
effect of providing animated videos about dental care on knowledge, attitudes, and
behavor of dental care with a p-value od 0,000 (<0,05).
