Abstract
Family planning is a government program to create a harmonious balance
between population, so that population growth does not exceed the increase of
production increase. One of the efforts of the IEC / counseling after childbirth to
ensure all post-partum mothers or spouses become family planning acceptors
were directed at long-term contraceptives such as intrauterine devices (IUD).
The purpose of this study was to determine the knowledge and attitudes
about the picture of an intrauterine device in the Village Bedono District Sayung
Demak regency in 2013.
Type a descriptive sub-study using cross-sectional approach. The total
sample of 42 respondents with sampling using probability sampling is the random
sampling technique. The research instrument used was a questionnaire and
analyzed using univariate.
The results sub-study obtained showed that the majority of respondents
have less knowledge of a total of 39 respondents (92.90%) and had less attitude
as much as 38 respondents (90.50%).
Conclusion on this research is still a lack of knowledge and attitude of fertile
woman of an intrauterine device (IUD). Health provider should be able to
increase the KIE (counseling, information, education) precontraceptives in
couples of childbearing age in particular about all contraceptives and intrauterine
devices, in particular the fertile couples can improve their knowledge and
attitudes about the intrauterine device by either ask for information health
provider , friends and throught hemass media.
