Abstract

This study analyzes the issues of the character Peter Quill in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie series. He is someone who has traumatic experiences in his life since childhood, specifically since he was 8 years old. This study also focuses on the effects of trauma in Peter Quill because of those bad experiences he had that has changed his personality and behavior. Therefore, this study aims to find the causes and effects of Peter Quill's traumatic experiences.
This study used a qualitative descriptive method. There were several steps used in the data collecting methods such as watching the movie, reading the movie script, identifying the data, classifying the data, and reducing the data. There were two types of data in this study namely primary data and secondary data. Primary data were the primary source of the analysis and obtained from the movie script of Guardian of The Galaxy Vol.1, Vol.2 and Vol.3. Secondary data were the supporting data which taken from e-books, journals, and articles.
The conclusion of this study showed two points. First, Peter Quill is someone who has bad experiences in the past of losing a loved one, violence, and being kidnapped as the cause of Peter Quill's traumatic experiences. Second, it explains the effects of Peter Quill's traumatic experiences on his behavior and personality are difficulty in controlling the emotions effectively, excessive anxiety and worry, deep sorrow, vengeful, fear of separation and easily offended.
