Abstract
This final project analyzes Oedipus, a boy who falls in love with his
mother. This final project is intended to expose such Oedipus nature in teenagers.
The object of this study is Gary Winick’s movie entitled Tadpole. The
writer uses descriptive qualitative analysis. The data of the study are in the form
of prologue and dialogue. The data were gathered by watching movie, identifying,
classifying, and reporting. The analysis was done by several techniques including
exposing, explaining and interpreting.
The analysis finds several findings. The first is Oedipus nature towards
Oscar Grubbman, how he can fall in love with his step mother. Some kinds of
effort have been done by Oscar to get his step mother`s heart, and also about
Oscar option to decide choose his family or his desire to get his love.
On the basis of this conclusion, the writer would like to give several
suggestions to the audience. Actually everyone in this world has his expectation
but having high expectation without looking for the reality is not good. We
cannot force our expectation to be real because we have to see the reality around
us. Like Oedipus a boy who falls in love with his mother, the boy just thinks about
his pleasure and his expectation without looking at the reality. He cannot do that
in this era because it is very unusual. No one can prohibit other people`s
expectation, but it will be wise if the person has normal expectation love is
beautiful but without reality it can be poison in our life.
In reality, something that we assume very important for our life actually is
not really important to us. There are many other expectations that we must do to
reach it. Life is not only about love, life is about reality.
