Abstract

Teachers are a source of inspiration for all humans who move generations to do good in order to realize the goals of national education. The teacher is not just a profession. Teachers are positions that are required to carry out their profession to the maximum. Based on the teacher law (RI Law NO.74 of 2008) that teachers are professional educators. A teacher is said to be professional if she is able to fulfill four competencies, namely personality competence, pedagogical competence, social competence, and professional competence. This study is intended to find out: How to become a professional teacher from the lens of an English teacher with achievements. This study seeks to describe how this teacher reaches the professional level from the point of view of achievement teachers. In this study, data collection is documentation, observation and interviews. In the sample of the study, researcher used a sampling technique by specifying a special characteristic that is the teachers with achievement. This study uses interview techniques for teachers who served in SMA Negeri 2 Semarang. Interviews were conducted in the workplace of the subject adjusted to the subject's willingness to be interviewed. The results of this study indicate that a professional teacher must learn and hone skills to achieve good results for students. Teachers' skills in teaching will affect the final results of students who can help in realizing national education. From the results of this study, the researcher also showed that teachers must follow the certification because with the program being held, a teacher would improve the ability to carry out their duties as a teacher as well as the evaluation and grouping of the professional teaching profession.
