Abstract

The purpose of this study was to figure out whether or not the use of TGT (Teams Games Tournament) model strategy is effective to teach reading comprehension of recount text at eight grade of MTS Miftahul Falah Puncel Dukuhseti Pati academic year 2019/2020. This researchbelongsto a pre-experimental design. The population of this study was all of eight gradersatMTS Miftahul Falah Puncel Dukuhseti Pati. In collecting data, the study used a test named pre-test and post-test.The result of this study showed that the pre-test means score is41.65. After giving treatments, the post-test means score is 40.35. In the hypothesis 1 the result of sig is 0.705 (>0.05), it means that hypothesis 1 is rejected. So, it can be concluded that A or teams games tournament has no significant positive effect on B or for improving reading skill. The result of the analysis showed that there was no significantdifferencefor TGT to improve reading comprehension ability at eight graders students of MTS Miftahul Falah Puncel. It shows from pre-test and post-test after the studygive the treatment teams games tournament (TGT). In otherhand, the teacher should look for a model strategy which is able to make the students more comfortable in studying English.
