Abstract

Wuri, Nilam Sulistyaning. 2014. The Effectiveness of Using Cooperative Learning Make-a-Match Technique to Teaching Noun Phrase (A case of Seventh Graders of MTs NU Ungaran Academic Year of 2013/2014. English Language Education Study Program. Bachelor Degree, Sultan Agung Islamic University Semarang. Advisor I: Hartono, S.S., M.Pd., advisor II: Drs. Liliek Soepriatmadji, M.Pd. Keywords: noun phrase vocabulary, make-a-match The main purpose of this study is to find out if Cooperative Learning Make-a-Match technique is effective to teach English vocabulary related to simple noun phrases for the seventh graders of MTs NU Ungaran in the academic year 2013/2014. The subject of research was 86 students who were divided into two groups, they were experimental and control group. The subjects of the research were VIIC class as experimental and VIID class as control group. In this research, the researcher used quasi experimental design. In the research have done some steps, they are pre-test, treatment and post-test. Start from the result of pre-test in the experimental group and control group. It was known that the mean score of pretest in experimental group was 67.69 and the control group was 67.09. After that, the researcher gave the treatments in the five times. After the treatments, showed that the students in the experimental group got higher mean scores than the control group did. The result of the data showed that the mean of the score of post test in experimental was 74.14 while the control group was 67.86. It was supported by the result of T-test that showed sig (2 tailed) was 0.003  0.05. It indicates H was accepted. Therefore, based on the result of there was significant in the result of post-test between experimental group which taught using Make-a-Match technique and the control group which was taught using conventional method. 1 From the result above it can be concluded that that Cooperative Learning Make-a-Match technique in teachin•� �un phrase vocabulary was effective.
