Abstract

This study is aimed to find out the relationship between self-efficacy and the duration of students' final project writing completion at students of English education department and English literature department of UNISSULA in 2017/2018. To achieve the objective of this final project, the writer conducted correlation research. This research study was conducted at students of English Education and English Literature of Language and Communication Science Faculty of Sultan Agung Islamic University (UNISSULA) Semarang who were doing the final project in the academic year 2017/2018 especially the students of semester 7 and 8 from 19th to 27th April, 2018. The number of sample of respondents was 33 students. It consisted of 6 male and 27 female, there were 8 students from English Literature Department and 25 students from English Education Department. The result of the analysis normality, the Shapiro-Wilk tests were 0.788 for self-efficacy and 0.948 for the duration of students’ final project writing completion. It can be figured out as H0 is accepted for self-efficacy because of 0.788 > 0.05. Meanwhile, the duration of students’ final project writing completion showed that H0 is accepted because of 0.948 > 0.05. Thus, data distribution both of self-efficacy and the duration of students’ final project writing completion were normal. Next, linearity showed that sig is 0.746. The score of deviation from linearity is bigger than 0.05, thus, H0 is accepted for linearity. Thus, the relationship between the first variable and the second variable was linear due to the result of data distribution of variables were normal and the linearity analysis was linear. The Pearson correlation showed that the correlation between self-efficacy and the duration of students’ final project writing is at 0.994. Because the coefficient correlation 0.994 > 0.334, it means that H0 is accepted. The value of the coefficient correlation is 0.994. It is between 0.800 – 1.000. It means that the degree of significant relationship is very strong. From the result above, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and the duration of students’ final project writing completion. Keywords : students’ self-efficacy , final project writing, correlation study, the duration of students’ final project writing completion
