This research used descriptive study as the research design. The subject of the study was the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Semarang in the academic year of 2016/2017. The data collection techniques used in this research were observation, closed-ended questionnaire, and semi structured interview. This research used inductive analysis to analyze the data. First, the students had a good perception on the implementation of scientific approach in the teaching English as indicated in the observation result that the teaching and learning process becomes more fun and understandable for students because they were comfortable and did not feel shy to ask the material that they had not understood yet. The questionnaire results also showed that the students mostly agreed with the positive statements and mostly disagreed with the negative statements of the closed-ended questionnaire. The students had enthusiasm in responding the questions of semi structured interview from the researcher. Second, the factors influenced the students’ perception in the implementation of scientific approach in the teaching English were the whole internal factors; physiology, attention, interest, unidirectional needs, experience and memory, and mood and three external factors; size and placement of objects or stimulus, the intensity and the strength of the stimulus, and the uniqueness and the contrast of the stimulus.
