Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to find empirical evidence about the effect of the level of leverage on firm performance. This study used a sample company engaged in food and beverage listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange during 2011-2013. Data were analyzed using multiple regression techniques. Data in the form of secondary data obtained from Indonesi Capital Market Directory (ICMD) and annual reporting companies sampled for three years, published by the BEI. This study uses two variables to analyze the level of leverage: Debt Ratio (DR) and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), as well as the use Return on Equity (ROE) to analyze the performance of the company. Results of this study indicate that the use of debt affect the performance of the company, so the company must pay attention to the level of leverage.
