Abstract

In society, there are social issues that always influence human life. One of issue that develops in society is gender role, such as the different of gender in society. It means the role between men and women in society are different, it is following by values and belief in society. Thus, roles of women in society are more passive than men. However by following the era, there are the role changes between women and men in society, especially women. Thus, this study will discuss about the differences of women gender role in present and past by analysis the Snow White character of Snow White movies. This study is dealing about how women gender role happened in the past and the present era with qualitative research. The primary data in this study are derived from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Snow White and the Huntsman films. Some sources are also taken from books, journals, articles, websites and thesis. The data are collected by watching the films, reading the scripts, identifying, classifying, and reducing. The result of the study shows that women in the past era did not have many choices to do what they want. By following the era there are changes of the role of women, they have choices to do what they want as much as men do. Moreover, there are can be concluded that there are shifting of women gender role from past to present since women become more aware that there should be equality in gender.
