( A case of the 10 th year students of SMA N 1 Bangsri in the academic year 2013/2014). English Language Program. Bachelor Degree, Sultan Agung Islamic University Semarang. Advisor : Prof. Warsono. Keywords: Cooperative Learning, Paired Story Telling Cooperative learning is small groups of learners working together as a team to solve a problem, complete a task, or accomplish a common goal. Through cooperative learning students will learn to work together. The main purpose of this study is to find out wheter Cooperative Learning Paired story Telling is effective to improve students‟ writing narrative text achievement. This study used the non-equivalent control group design of quasi experimental research. Two groups of the tenth graders were compared in terms of their writing narrative text achievement. One group taught by cooperative learning paired story telling participants in other group only taught by traditional method. There were four steps in conducting this research; try out, pre test, treatment and post test during six meetings of the research. The subject of this study was the tenth graders of SMA N 1 Bangsri in the academic year of 2013/2014. The number participants of each class was 40 students. The result of this research findings show difference in achievement of the students‟ writing before and after being treated by using cooperative learning paired story telling. From the data, the writer found the average score of post test of experimental group (70, 38) was higher than the post test of the control group (63,87). Thus, there was a significant difference in the students writing narrative text taught by using cooperative learning paired story telling between the experimental and control group.
