Abstract

Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia is a metropolitan city which has total area 661,52 Km2 with 10,37 million population in 2017. A lot of people prefer using the private car than the public transportation because the lack of proper public transportation, it caused the capacity of the roads are over and in turn the traffic jam. In 2015 the government started the public transportation development projects to reduce the jam among others by building the Light Rail Transit (LRT). The Light Rail Transit is a form of urban rail transport using rolling stock similar to a tramway, but operating at a higher capacity, and often on an exclusive right-of-way. The objectives of the study is to design and analyze LRT track. In this final assignment railway track of LRT will be designed and calculated. There are two types of track that can be applied in LRT track as follows ballasted and non ballasted. This final assignment will discuss both ballasted track and non ballasted track and both will be compared on the deck slab. Of the various types of rail, this final assignment will discuss the UIC 54 type of rail as study material and the dimension of the sleeper that used L = 200 m, a = 45 cm, c = 55 cm. The result of the calculation as follows maximum moment (Mm) of the rail is 390298,793 kgcm and the moment reduction is 331753,974 kgcm and the load that the sleeper received is 9157,346 kg. The stress that occurs on slepeer and ballast is 877,792kg/cm2 < σ_permitted so the application of rail type UIC 54 with distance 60 cm and ballast’s materials are rubble stone can be applied. The speed design 120 km/h retrieved thick minimum of ballast 0,38 m = 38 cm and using track class I and the load of LRT is 1,872 KN. From the result of the calculation could be concluded that calculation of railway track for ballasted track is more complicated compared to non ballasted track, but non ballasted track is more efficient to apply on railway track so, both ballasted track and non ballasted track could be applied in the railway bridge.
