Abstract

Tujuan umum didirikannya Bait Al-Hikmah yaitu untuk mengumpulkan, menyalin dan menerjemahkann ilmu-ilmu penetahuan asing ke dalam bahasa Arab. Maka inilah yang menjadi awal dari kemajuan dan kejayaan peradaban Islam dengan mengenggam dunia menggunakan ilmu pengetahuan. Berbagai disiplin ilmu pengetahuan berkembang dengan berdirinya Bait Al-Hikmah sebagai pusat kajian ilmu pengetahuan dan peradaban terbesar di masa Dinasti Abbasiyah. Bait Al-Hikmah memiliki peran terhadap perubahan wacana umat antara lain sebagai lembaga pendidikan, pusat penerjemahan dan penyalinan buku-buku, pusat penelitian dan observatorium. UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Islam Sultan Agung sendiri telah banyak berperan dalam lingkup mahasiswa dan masyarakat sekitarnya diantaranya: sebagai lembaga pendidikan, tempat penelitian dan maker space, pusat informasi, sumber rekreasi dan hiburan bagi civitas akademik. Perpustakaan Universitas Islam Sultan Agung sendiri mempunyai bebrapa keungggulan seperti desain interior yang mengusung konsep futuristic dan comfort library dengan nuansa Kota Dubai, perppustakaan ynag terakreditasi “A” dari PNRI, dan berbagai fasilitas layanan yang telah disedikan. Namun terdapat beberapa peran yang belum menyamai perpustakaan Bait Al-Hikmah seperti penerjemahan buku-buku, koleksi buku masih kurang dan juga belum representatif bagi pustakawan ataupun mahasiswa dikarenakan terdapat beberapa referensi buku masih belum bisa ditemukan didalam perpustakaan in. Kata Kunci : Peran, Perpustakaan Universitas Islam Sultan Agung, Bait Al-Hikmah. ABSTRACT ANDI NURHIKMA. Bait Al-Hikmah is a science institution founded in Baghdad by the Caliph al-Ma'mun (813-833 M). Bait Al-Hikmah is known as the first institution of higher education in the history of Islam. The general purpose of establishing Bait Al-Hikmah is to collect, copy and translate foreign knowledge into Arabic. So this is the beginning of the progress and triumph of Islamic civilization by holding the world using science. Various scientific disciplines developed with the establishment of Bait Al-Hikmah as the largest center for the study of science and civilization in the Abbasid Dynasty. Bait Al-Hikmah has a role in changing the discourse of the people, among others, as an educational institution, translation and copying center for books, research centers and observatories. The Islamic Sultan Agung University Library itself has a lot to play in the scope of students and the surrounding community, including: as an educational institution, research place and maker space, information center, recreation and entertainment resources for the academic community. Sultan Agung Islamic University Library itself has several advantages such as an interior design that carries the concept of futuristic and comfort libraries with the feel of Dubai City, a library that is accredited "A" from PNRI, and various service facilities that have been provided. However, there are a number of role that have not matched the Bait Al-Hikmah library such as the translation of books, the collection of books is still lacking and also not representative for librarians or students because there are several book references that still cannot be found in the library.
