Abstract

The final project was about the application of courselab 2.4 in teaching reading class. The objective of this study was to find out whether the application of courselab 2.4 was effective or not to improve students reading comprehension achievement. The population of this study was all of the eleventh graders of SMA PGRI 4 Gandrungmangu Cilacap in academic year 2014/2015. This study used quasi experimental research design. Two classes were taken as the samples; experimental group and control group. An experimental group received a treatment by using Courselab 2.4 as a medium while the control group received a treatment too without using Courselab 2.4. The data were collected by using several activities. They were try-out, pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The result of this study shows that the pretest mean score of experimental class was 63.86 and that of the control class was 62.05. After giving treatment for three meetings the posttest average of experimental class was 82.05 and that of the control class was 76.59.The result of the analysis showed that there was a significant difference. It was supported by the result of t-test, t value was lower than t-table (2.27 >1.667). It means that the use of courselab 2.4 in teaching reading was better than that of the conventional method. It could be concluded that H1 was accepted. So, the use of courselab 2.4 as a medium was effective to improve students’ achievement in reading comprehension.
