Abstract

The objective of the study was to find out whether the use of video music lyrics was effective to improve the students’ pronounciation. The population of the study was all of the seventh graders SMPNasima Semarang with the total of students were 106 students. While for the sample of this study was only taken from two classess namely class VII-A was consisted of 26 students as control class and VII-B was consisted 27 students as experimental class. In order to collect the data, the writer gave test named pre-test and post-test to the samples. It was given to the samples before and after giving the treatment. Then, the writer analysed the data use SPSS 16.0. This research used quasi experimental research design. The result of this study showed that the pre-test mean score of the experimental class was 68.04, while the control class was 67.02. After giving treatment in four meetings, the post-test mean score of experimental class was 84.13 and the control class was 73.40. The result of the analysis showed that there was a significant difference between them. It was supported by t-test result.The significant difference in the result of post-test between control class and experimental class was 0.01 (<0.05). It means that the use of video music lyrics as a media gave more significant result than the conventional method in improving students’ pronunciation. In the end, it could be concluded that H1 was accepted. So, The use of video music lyrics was effective to improve students’ pronunciation.
