Abstract
In this research, the objective of the study was to find out whether the using Walt Disney animation movies is effective to improve the students’ achievement in writing narrative texts of eight grade students or not. This study was categorized as an experimental research, because it is to know the effectiveness of using Walt Disney animation movies in teaching writing of narrative text at the eight grade students’ of SMP Muhammadiyah 07 Semarang in the academic years 2015/2016.Besides, this study was using quasi-experimental research with two groups: experimental group and control group. The subject of the study was 73 students were taken from two classes at eightgrade (VIII-A and VII-B). Class VII-A as an experimental group and class VIII-B as a control group. The data was collected by using several activities. They were: pre-test, treatment and post-test. The finding of the study showed that there was improvement on students’ ability in writing narrative text. It can be seen from the final scores of the experimental group and the control group. The mean score of post-test of the experimental group was 70,83, while the mean score of post-test of control group was 53.87. And from the result of independent t test got sig. 0.000 for significant 0.05, 0.000< 0,05.Iit means that H1 is accepted while H0 is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use ofWalt Disney animation movies is effective and can help the students to improve their ability in writing narative text.
