Abstract

The final project was focused to find out whether or not outdoor learning activities is effective to improve students’ writing descriptive text at the case of the 8th grade students of SMP N 1Kedungjati in the academic year 2015/2016.In order to achieve the objective of the study, the researcher conducted an experimental research. The research design used quasi experimental design. The population of the study was the VIII grade students of SMP N 1 Kedungjati. The total number was 28 students in class VIIIC as control group and also 30 students in class VIIIB as the experimental group and 28 students in class VIIIA as the Try out. In conducting this experimental research, the researcher used four steps. Firstly, try out to measure the instrument. Secondly, pre test was given in experimental and control group. Thirdly, a treatment was given for experimental group. It was taught outdoor learning activities as media while the control group was taught by conventional method. The last step was post test. Post test was given to both of group. After getting the result, the researcher used t=test to analyze the data. The result of the data showed that the mean of post test in the control group was 69.21 while experimental group was 78.93. It was supported by the result of t-test that showed Sig.(2-tailed)was 0.000. It means that there was significant difference in the result of post test between control group which was taught using conventional method and experimental group which was taught using outdoor learning activity. So that, it was concluded that outdoor learning activity to improve students’ writing skill of descriptive text was effective.
