Abstract

The study aims to describe the problems faced by teachers in teaching speaking to EFL elementary students by using qualitative research design. The participants of this research was three teachers from three different elementary schools. The data obtained by using questionnaire, interview, and classroom observation. The result showed that teachers’ problems in teaching speaking to EFL elementary school students came from internal and external factors. The internal factor consists of: 1) Native language, 2) Age, 3) Exposure, and 4) Motivation. While the external factors were: 1) Large Class, 2) Insufficient Time, 3) Insufficient Facility, 4) Difficult Materials, and 5) Learners’ Autonomy.
