Up to now the results of teaching and learning processes relating to the students’ engagement as perceived by the students of the eighth grade in junior high school have not been satisfying yet. It is because the teachers might not consider the students’ engagement and readiness to study as being important when they are about to teach at the beginning of the lesson. That was what formed the background of this study. This final project dealt with the teaching sequence app�þ� �� � �À � � �� ø � �� � °� � � � ú�� �� � � � �� � � � � •� � er wanted to get the description of the teaching sequences applied for the students of the eighth grade at MTs Darul Ulum Wonossalam Demak in February 2013. Having analyzed the result of the study, there might be something useful can be taken for improving the teaching sequence and the students’ engagement when teaching English. To collect the data, the writer used observation. He chose 2 English teachers in that school as the respondents for this research. The object of this study was the E-S-A teaching sequences applied by the English teachers. He conducted the observation when the respondents were teaching in the classroom. To complete the result of this research, he also conducted video recording to support the data gathered by doing observation. The method of data analysis used in this research was the qualitative descriptive method. It was used to describe the analys nd the studestudy. Based on the result of the research, the writer concluded that both respondents applied ESA teaching sequence during their classes. They applied varied activities in their teaching sequences. They not only focused the students on how the language sounded and looked, but also on practising using the language. During the teaching learning process, they could engage the students and overcome the students’ boredom effect ively. As the result, the students’ participation was noticably proven by their body languages, verbal participation and language performance when the students were asked to do some instructions.
