Abstract

Keywords: correlation, students’ depth of word knowldge, reading comprehension The objective of this final project is to find out the Correlation Between the students’ Depth of Word Knowledge and Reading Comprehension at Students of Semester 7 of in Academic Year 2013/2014. To achieve the objective of this study, the writer conducted correlation research. The research study was conducted at Nursing Faculty of Sultan Agung Islamic University Semarang on Jln. Kaligawe km.04 Semarang. The sample of the research was 27 students of 7 th semester. The result of the analysis normality, the Kolmogorove-Smirnov Tests were 0,072 for students’ depth of word knowledge and 0,063 for reading comprehension. It can be figured out as H is accepted for students’ depth of word knowledge because 0,072 > 0,05. Meanwhile, for reading comprehension showed that H 0 0 is accepted. Because, 0,063 > 0,05. Thus, data distribution both of students’ depth of word knowledge and reading comprehension were normal. Next, Linearity showed sig is 0,708, so, H is accepted for linearity. Because sign 0,689 > 0,05. Thus, the relationship between dependent and independent variables was linier. Due to the result of data distribution of variables were normal and linearity analysis was linier. The Pearson correlation showed that the correlation between the students’ depth of word knowledge and reading comprehension was at 0,813. It means that H 0 0 is accepted. Because, the coefficient correlation 0,813 > 0,361. 0,813 was between 0,800-1,000. It meant that the degree of significant relationship is high. From the result above, it can be concluded that there is correlation between the students’ depth of word knowledge and reading comprehension.
