Abstract
This study is aimed to find out whether there is or there is no correlation between students’ reading habit and their reading comprehension at the tenth graders in a private madrasah aliyah around Demak. The method used in this research is a quantitative research and it designed in a correlation study. The sample of this study was all of tenth graders in a private madrasah aliyah around Demak. In collecting the data, the writer used questionnaire to measure students’ reading habit and reading comprehension test to measure students’ reading comprehension. The data was analyzed by coefficient of pearson product moment formula in SPSS 16 application with the significant degree 0.05 or 5%. The result of normality analysis tests was 0.200 for reading habit and 0.066 for reading comprehension. Because both of data have higher normality value than the “p” value (> 0.05), it can be concluded that the reading habit data and reading comprehension data have a normal distribution. The linearity test showed sign is 0.874, because the value of sig (significance) > 0.05 which means that the variable is linier. Due to the normal and linear result of the variable data distribution and the linearity analysis therefore, to analyze the correlation of this study used pearson product moment formula. The result showed that the correlation between students’ reading habit and their reading comprehension was at 0.729. It means that H a is accepted and H is rejected. The conclusion of this study, there is significant correlation between students’ reading habit and their reading comprehension at tenth graders in a private madrasah aliyah around Demak in the academic year of 2015/2016. 0 Keywords: Reading Habit, Reading Comprehension
