Abstract
This final project Discusses and analyzes Message and Ethnocentrism in the Pocahontas II film (journey to a new world). This study is aimed to give describing for the viewers about person who proud with her country and maintain her country from other.Tthis study also is aimed to give the explanation about ethnocentrism that portrayed in some of the characters especially the white people (Ratcliffe). The message in this film portrayed in the main character that comes to new world, namely England. This academic writing centre on the message and ethnocentrism portrayed in Pocahontas II film (Journey to a an world), that becomes the object of this study is analyzed qualitatively with uses the movie especially the movie script (dialogue) and supported by the data from journal, articles, and sites---which is allowed in academic writing. The result of this finale project shows that white people view other ethnic like Pocahontas gives the negative judgments especially her people in Jamestown also looks white in negative stereotypes. From the result, this study can be conclude; Indian who has brown-skinned is not like white people think and not all Indian are barbarian, savage or wild like Ratcliffe says to Indian and also Indian calls white people with “pale”. Meanwhile, film is one of the literary works that can be analyzed through movie script (dialogue), the director, the pictures of the film and etc. Keywords: Pocahontas II, Message (nationalism), and Ethnocentrism.
