Abstract

The Miracle Worker is a film by William Gibson that tells the story of a girl with sensory limitations such as deaf, dumb, and blind, which causes the girl to have complex emotions. This study aim to describe the classification of emotion seen from the main character in the film The Miracle Worker. The theory used in this study is David Krech's classification of emotions. A qualitative descriptive methodology was used in this study. It utilized two different types of data: primary data and secondary data. The primary data used for this research were taken from the film script The Miracle Worker which includes dialog, prologue, and monologue. Then, the secondary data for this study were from relevant articles, books, journals, and previous research projects. Data were collected using various techniques, such as watching the film, reading the film scripts, identifying data, classifying data, and reducing data. The results of the study found four classifications of emotions in the main character in the film The Miracle Worker, namely, (1) the classification of basic emotions (happy, angry, afraid and sad), (2) classification of emotions related to sensory stimulus (pain), (3) classification of emotions related to other people (success), and (4) emotions related to other people (love and hate). Keyword: basic emotion, emotions linked to sensory stimulation, emotions associated with self assessment, and emotions related to other people.
