Abstract
The Woman King is a film by Gina Prince that describes the persistence of female soldiers. Liberal feminism is one of the strong issues in the film The Woman King. The purpose of this study is to explain the struggles of liberal feminism that occur in the main characters’ Nanisca, the leader of the female warriors, and one of her soldiers named Izogie. This study uses the theory of liberal feminism from John Stuart Mill and Harriet Taylor and applies descriptive qualitative research to analyze data collected from dialogues, monologues, and narratives in films. In collecting data, researchers used several steps, namely data collection by watching films, reading scripts, identifying data, and reducing data that is less relevant. The results of this study are the first to explain the liberal feminism are depicted in the main character which consist of brave, motivative, strong, decisive, and the chosen. Second, explain the main characters’ struggles for equality which consists of equal liberty, equal right, the sufferage, and equal education so that it can dissect thoughts that have a sense of value both positive and negative.
