Abstract

Problem solving and controlling flood is the very complex thing, so it must be resolved in a comprehensive and through in the one river systems wich consist of the 3 sub-systems, such as collecting sub-system, transporting subsystem and disposal sub-system. It means, the whole pattern of planning, implementation, operation, and maintenance must be done in a unified whole. Overall, the flood discharge is a product derived from the hydrological cycle, which naturally water from the sea turns into a rain then flows down to the earth and bringing sediment from land surface erosion process. Sediment will sink along the river channel with a dominant number in the mouth of estuary. Processing of water cycle is begins and ends at the sea, flooding will occur if there any factor hiding the water flows. In which is caused by natural factors or human-induced. To give an idea of the pattern how to manage river systems in flood control based on the hydrologic cycle, then used a Garang river systems in the area of Garang Catchment Area as the object in this final project. In an analysis of hydrology and sedimentation there are some parameters that will be used, there are analysis of the design discharge, fluvial loads analysis and littoral transport sediment analysis, where in these analysis the balancing of sediment sink will appear in the estuary, called by sediment budget. The results of analysis and calculation from this final project is expected to be taken into consideration for determining of the strategy in flood control system. Key Words: flood, hydrologic cycle, river system. Student of Engineering Faculty, Department of Civil Engineering UNISSULA. Student of Engineering Faculty, Department of Civil Engineering UNISSULA.
