Abstract
This study examines the factors affecting English speaking anxiety of Thai students who are studying in Semarang. Eleven students of the English Education Study Program studying in Semarang were selected purposively as respondents. This method adopts a descriptive research design through a mixed method. The respondents were selected through purposive sampling to fill in the questionnaire and perform interviews. The findings indicate that 11 Thai students had moderate anxiety levels. What affects anxiety depends on the surrounding environment, and it depends on their language skills. It also includes a lack of vocabulary, making it impossible to speak in sentences correctly. As a result, they did not dare to speak and lacked self-confidence. Keywords: anxiety, speaking skills, Thai students, universities in Semarang
