Abstract

Dwi Sunandar. 182090159,” The Correlation between Students’ Reading Comprehension Ability and their Translation Ability This final project is about the correlation between reading comprehension and translation. The objective of this study is to find out if there is a correlation between reading comprehension ability and translation ability The population of this study was the eleventh grade students of MAN 1 Pati in the academic year 2013/2014 with a total number of 32 students. Correlational – research was used in this study. It was used to find out there was or not a correlation between 2 different variables which were correlated. The first variable was reading comprehension and the second variable was translation. The data were collected by a test of reading comprehension and translation. The result of this study shows that the average of reading comprehension test was 65.503 and the average of translation test shows that 73.281. Besides that, the result of reading comprehension test was 65.7 % of the students had performed well enough and 34.4 % of students had performed so poorly. In the result of translation test, 68.4 % of the students had performed well and 31.25 % of students had not performed well enough. The correlation coefficient was 0.768. Based on the confident level 5% ” was accepted. So, there was a correlation between students’ reading comprehension ability and translation ability. 1 table
