Abstract
This study aims to identify the types and functions performed by students of Gontor for girls 3. The study participants consisted of students Gontor for girls 3. Data were collected by using audio recording when the students were having their daily conversation around boarding school. The findings of this study reveal that there are 2 types of code switching, namely; inter-sentential code switching and intra-sentential code switching. There are several code switching functions, eight functions are as follows (1) to express gratitude to God, (2) to ease communication, (3) to show great with other people in group, (4) to inquire some questions, (5) to worship to God Allah, (6) to make clarification, (7) to give explanation, (8) to check understanding.
