Abstract

Keywords: Audio-Lingual Method, Speaking Skill. This study was aimed to describe how the process of Audio-Lingual Method in improving speaking skill of Tenth Grade Students of SMA 10 Semarang. To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher conducted collaborative action research done together with the English teacher of SMA N 10 Semarang. The population of the study was 310 students of SMA N 10 Semarang, and only 36 students were used as example for the study. There were 4 steps conducted in order to collect the primary data. The first step was a pre-test, the second step was Teaching and Learning Process. The third was interview. The last step was post-test. Based on this research of stud, in effectiveness of ALM could improve student’s activity, learning motivation, interest, speaking achievement and confidence. The students’ speaking skill after the treatment is getting better than before. It was proven by their active participation during the teaching and learning and the improvement of study result that could be shown from the result of pre-test (23.44) and pre-test (44.77). The main factor that affected this improvement was the interest of the students in joining the teaching and learning process through ALM.
