Abstract
From the beginning of mankind, transportation, especially land transportation has been a main aspect in human lives. Communication and trade would not have been possible without it. For this purpose, thousands kilometers of road have been built over the world. In its development, pavements can be broadly classified into two types, flexible and rigid pavement. To get pavement with good conditions, properly design is needed. For that reason this final assignment have objectives to make design both for flexible pavement and rigid pavement. Pavement structure calculation will be conducted using AASHTO 1993 method. The AASHTO method has stages and developments so that it will be devoted to using the AASHTO Method 1993. The study begins with an investigation of existing soil on Semarang – Purwodadi road, collects traffic data from average daily traffic data for 2016 at DPU. Bina Marga Cipta Karya, and continues by calculation of rigid pavement and flexible pavements. Calculation using three different subgrade soil taken from the land investigation report of Semarang – Godong – Purwodadi - Wirosari road section conducted by PT. Hasfarm Dian Consultan with the value of California Bearing Ratio (CBR) value is CBR <2%, CBR 2-3% and CBR> 3%. Design life for pavement design is 20 years both for flexible and rigid pavement. The design results is thickness of flexible pavement for CBR <2% = 56 ", CBR 2-3% = 43", and CBR> 3% = 33". while the thickness of overlay is for CBR <2% = 5.2 ", CBR 2-3% = 5.5", CBR> 3% = 4.7 ". The result for rigid pavement is CBR <2% = 14", CBR 2-3% = 14", and CBR> 3% = 13". It can be concluded that flexible pavement and rigid pavement on Semarang - Purwodadi road with the same load and design life is better using rigid pavement.
