Abstract

In the industrial world, the motor is the main equipment needed to support the production. In its use is required variations in the motor rotation speed setting depending on the speed of the desired rotation. It is used to reduce the amount of initial flow. Thus the required starting method on the motor, and one of the starting method is to use VFD (Variable Speed Drive) is utilizing the inverter as a motor rotation speed regulator through the value of a varied frequency. Inverters are non-linear loads, where non-linear loads produce harmonics, and therefore the proper switching method is required. In this study aims to prove that the SVPWM method of inverter is a switching technique that produces little harmonic value in comparison with other inverter switching methods SPWM and THIPWM. The results show that the current harmonic value is 1.41% in the fundamental flow 45.6 A, and THDv is 1.76% at the fundamental voltage of 82.64 Volts at a frequency of 50 Hz. While at the frequency of 60 Hz the resulting THDi value is 25.64% in the fundamental currents 47.09 A and THDv of 25.96% at a fundamental voltage of 86.39 volts. Keywords: VFD, SVPWM, Harmonics
